Who we work withAnd who we don't

  • This is for you if
  • You're a funded Series A or B startup in UK B2B commerce, retail-tech or composable platforms.
  • You're on a growth trajectory and winning enterprise or mid-market clients, but can't yet justify a full-time director.
  • A founder or a generalist is still personally holding the biggest client relationships, because nobody has been hired to own them.
  • Delivery quality depends on who happens to be free that week.
  • This probably isn't
  • You're a large enterprise or Fortune 500 business with delivery and client success already institutionalised.
  • You already have the budget and sign-off for a full-time director, and want to fill that seat now.
  • You're a consumer brand looking for marketing or ecommerce trading support.
  • You need hands-on execution rather than someone leading delivery and client relationships.
  • You're pre-seed or pre-traction, with no enterprise or mid-market clients to look after yet.

The expertise you needExactly when you need it

Post Series A, revenue climbs and client expectations rise faster than the org chart. Clients need managing. Programmes need delivering. Growth needs driving. But a full-time Delivery Director or Client Partner isn't affordable yet. That's where we come in.

“Our biggest account only talks to the founder”

Every senior conversation runs through one person who is already stretched. The relationship is real, but it isn't held anywhere else — and that's a single point of failure on your largest revenue line.

“Renewals feel like a surprise every time”

Nobody owns the account plan, so value never gets evidenced before the conversation happens. Renewals become negotiations you enter cold, and expansion never gets asked for.

“Delivery slips and nobody sees it early”

Complex programmes need someone senior watching the shape of the work, not just the tickets. Without it, problems reach the client before they reach you.

What you actuallyget from us

Three ways in, depending on where the pressure is. Each is sized for a Series A or B team, not dropped in as an enterprise function. Most engagements start with one and widen once the first problem is off the table.

01

Fractional Client Partner

For when your largest accounts are held by a founder who has run out of hours.

We take the senior relationship: in the room with your clients' stakeholders, accountable for retention and expansion.

  • Account plans for your top clients
  • A named senior contact your clients trust
  • Quarterly review structure that evidences value
  • Escalation path when things get tense
02

Fractional Delivery Leader

For when programmes are complex and nobody senior is watching their shape.

We hold delivery oversight across your accounts, so risk surfaces early and clients stay confident while the work gets done.

  • Delivery governance and reporting rhythm
  • Early risk and dependency visibility
  • Scope and change handled before it bites
  • Support for the delivery people you already have
03

Fractional Growth Leader

For when delivery is good but revenue isn't compounding from it.

We build the commercial layer that turns delivered work into planned, repeatable growth.

  • Commercial framework across the client base
  • Expansion and pipeline rhythm
  • Pricing and proposal structure
  • Partner and referral routes worth running

How an engagementactually works

No lengthy discovery, no bench of juniors, no twelve month contract. Senior experience in the room from week one, working to make itself unnecessary.

01

Intro call

Thirty minutes. We look at where client relationships or delivery are actually straining, and whether fractional leadership is the right answer. If it isn't, we'll say so.

02

Diagnostic

A short first phase spent inside the business. Accounts, delivery, commercials and the people holding it together. You get a clear read on the risks and the order to tackle them in.

03

Embedded

Typically one to two days a week. We hold the senior client and delivery relationships and put in an operating rhythm sized for a growing team, not an enterprise PMO, run alongside your people rather than above them.

04

Handover

Engagements are designed to end. The frameworks, plans and relationships are documented and handed to whoever you hire, so nothing walks out of the door with us.

Founder & Fractional Leader

We areDecimal

Decimal was founded by me for ambitious organisations like you, the kind that need to drive value forward while managing cost, strategy and clients all at once.

I bring 15+ years of experience in commercial growth, client success and delivery across sectors ranging from retail, insurance and travel. I have worked with everyone from startups and SMEs to large enterprise organisations and household high street brands. That enterprise experience is what I bring to Series A and B teams, rather than who Decimal is built to serve.

I work fractionally — dropping in senior experience exactly where it's needed to unblock delivery, steady client relationships, and drive commercial outcomes. Without the overhead of a full-time hire.

If that sounds like what you need, let's talk.

Ben Higgins — Founder & Fractional Leader

The questionspeople ask first

We're pre-seed, or we're a large enterprise. Can you still help?

Probably not, and it's better to say so now. The model works best for funded Series A and B startups: enough traction to have real enterprise or mid-market clients, not enough scale to have a delivery or client success function already in place. Earlier than that and there isn't enough to lead; larger than that and you need a permanent hire, not a fractional one.

How is this different from a consultant or an agency?

A consultant hands you a recommendation. An agency sells you a team. We take the seat — owning the client relationship or the delivery function inside your business, accountable for the outcome, in your meetings and in front of your clients.

What happens when we're ready to hire full-time?

That's the intended ending. We help shape the role, sit in on hiring where it's useful, and hand over the accounts, plans and operating rhythm so the person you hire starts on something solid rather than from scratch.

How long do engagements run, and how do we stop?

Long enough to change something, short enough to stay honest. Engagements are retainer based, reviewed regularly, and either side can end them with reasonable notice agreed up front. No lock-in.

How do you work with the team we already have?

Alongside them, not above them. We work with your existing delivery, account and commercial people, add the senior layer that's missing, and coach where there's appetite for it.

What's the minimum commitment?

Typically one to two days a week per client. Less than that and there isn't enough presence to hold real client relationships properly.

What do you need from us to start?

Access to the clients and the people doing the work, a clear view of the commercials, and a named person internally who can make decisions. That's it.
